They, apparently, can't be built fast enough.So whose buying these huge, expensive properties and where do they get their money?Take a look around and homes in the Austin area keep getting bigger and bigger, fancier and fancier, pricier and pricier. In Travis County alone, nearly 3,000 homes are appraised at a million dollars or more.In the past year, sales of houses right under a million dollars shot up 71 percent. Those a million and higher increased nearly 50 per cent. This surge has happened in a relatively short time.In 1996, two homes in Austin sold for over a million dollars....

DivcoWest buys another valley property

DivcoWest said Tuesday it has purchased a property in Mountain View for its most recent real estate investment fund, Market Street Capital Partners LP. The San Francisco-based real estate investment trust said it bought is 400 Logue, a free-standing R&D facility located on a 2.55 acre site in Mountain View. The 42,500 square foot facility was completely renovated in 2000. Coupons Inc. has signed a long term lease agreement for the entire building, and will begin phasing-in its headquarters operations on November 1. The Business Journal previously reported that DivcoWest bought two other valley properties: the multi-building, multi-tenant Lake Marriott Business Park in Santa Clara for an estimated $76 million and business intelligence software maker Business Objects Inc.'s north San Jose headquarters complex for an estimated $65 million....
